Dr. Julius A. Ellrich, Postdoctoral Researcher

Picture

Marine Ecologist

I am examining predator-prey interactions, predator nonconsumptive effects on prey populations, trait-mediated indirect interactions and the function of foundation species in benthic communities. For my research, I am using intertidal and subtidal organisms as model systems. Recently, I have been investigating benthic-pelagic coupling along the Canadian Atlantic coast, biological invasions on the Japanese Pacific coast and marine plastic pollution in Europe and Japan. Currently, I am working on oyster (Ostrea edulis) reef restoration in the framework of the RESTORE project on Helgoland island, Germany.
